Painting of the Breakfast Creek Hotel, Brisbane. Queensland. Australia. Painted at home studio from reference photos I shot in 2018. The iconic Brekky Creek Pub glows in the early morning light as it stands majestically above the waters of the Brekky Creek which it has done for more than 100 years. I was fascinated by the reflections across the water and how it was framed against the sky with its decorative fret work and iron roof. The bridge seems to point our eye inward toward the pub and adds to the drama evoked by this spectacular scene. Irresistible to an artist like myself.

Inspiration drawn from a special place discovered at Glenwood (Qld) Soft morning light floods the scene and illuminates everything and creates a misty glow of soft, gentle colours which reflect off the motionless water which forms the center of the painting and allows us to see the sky colours mirroring off it’s surface.

Painting was created after a beautiful morning spent at Glenwood, Queensland. Morning light seemed to illuminate the trees and grasses from within and I was totally spell bound and captivated to paint the scene.
